Carry a blanket in your car warns the RAC!
7 Jan 2011
RAC warns drivers to prepare for the cold weather ahead by carrying a lightweight Mediwrap thermal blanket in their car at all times.

Research by Mediwrap to launch its new range of thermal blankets shows that despite government figures revealing a 71% increase in the total number of hard shoulder casualties in the last three years, over 22 million motorists stay firmly seated in their cars when they break down if its cold, raining heavily or dark outside. A practice highly discouraged by the RAC, not helped by the fact that over 64% of those questioned admitted to not keeping a blanket or even a coat in the car.

Mediwrap blankets are designed to prevent hypothermia and are used by the emergency services. They are made to be stored in the boot for those emergencies when you break down in subzero temperatures.

When breaking down the RAC always advises drivers and passengers to wait for help away from the vehicle and passing traffic - either behind the crash barrier or on an embankment, and to keep warm!
