Cardiac Services Donates Spirometer
9 Jul 2010
Mark Reid from Cardiac Services and Joan O’Hagan from Asthma UK Northern Ireland presented a spirometer to Comber Surgery in Comber Co. Down.
The spirometer was donated by Cardiac Services with the surgery winning the piece of equipment in a ballot held for GP practices who helped to raise awareness of asthma on World Asthma Day in May 2010.The display was created by practice nurse Patricia Mairs and highlighted the value of asthma action plans, the focus of Asthma UK’s campaign for World Asthma Day.
Completed with the patient by the appropriate healthcare professional, an asthma action plan contains details about their asthma medicines, how to tell when their symptoms are getting worse and what to do, including in the case of an asthma attack.
