Wireless foetal and maternal surveillance
With Avalon CTS, expectant mothers are untethered from the fetal monitors. Wearing the lightweight, cordless transducers, mothers-to-be can move about with more freedom and comfort, and even bathe while being continuously monitored. The system measures external fetal heart rate and movement, uterine activity and maternal ECG. It uses radio frequency (RF) technology to transmit information to a base station, Philips fetal monitors, and the OB TraceVue information management system. Information from Avalon can become part of a comprehensive overall patient record.

Avalon CTS features:

• Cordless, waterproof ultrasound, Toco, and ECG transducers


• Transducers are lightweight (only 120 grams or 4.23 oz.)


• Operating range up to 100m (approx. 300 ft.)


• Base station that also recharges transducers


• Bed identifier to match transducers and base stations in units with multiple systems


• Can operate on protected WMTS band


• Compatible with the full current range of Philips Series 50 fetal monitors, as well as Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Series 50 fetal monitoring systems


• Audible and visual alerting


• Smart battery management for rapid "top-up" charging, with no memory effects


• Lithium-ion battery power for up to 16 hours; quick recharge at 2.5 hours maximum


• Small base station footprint
